TAMBAY MONACO CRASH 1986

As a nice pitlane crash has been removed, I wanted to add another crash today.

And if you see this one, you wonder why the other one was removed and this one is still available.

Maybe because this is over twenty years old.

Anyway, it is still very impressive stuff indeed Mr Tambay.

NELSON PIQUET 1987 SAN MARINO CRASH

This is a big one, at the same corner, bit further down the road, were GERHARD BERGER had his big fiery crash.

And PIQUET is very lucky indeed to walk away with only a whiplash which he kept a secret from his team and the rest of the world till the end of the season so he would not loose his place in this top team.

SENNA CRASHES AT THE HOCKENHEIMRING

You rarely saw the master of the black tarmac have a crash. But if he did it was a spectacular one.

This is one in his early days at TOLEMAN, now Renault when they still raced at the proper Hockenheimring, with big fat long straights in the forest where they reached amazing speeds before they would arrive at the stadium where you needed downforce.

But it was out in the forest that SENNA crashed.

NAKAJIMA PITLANE CRASH

Suppose it is your very first Formula one Grand Prix.

Alex Wurz has just retired and you have a very fast team mate in Nico Rosberg who might go to McLaren next year.

And then it is pitstop time. It is very easy when you see a good one, like the one in the picture.

But what if it is your very first Grand Prix???

If you get your bearings just slightly wrong that spells disaster.

And when I say wrong, half a meter is very wrong indeed, if you are one of his mechanics.

However, for no apparent reason this video has been removed from youtube as FOM is not keen for certain accidents to be shown apparently. So instead here is one of I believe his father.

YAMAMOTO CRASH

Your team mate is always faster. It is the last race of the year. And then you crash.

ANDRETTI’S CRASH INTO SAFETY CAR

I told you the safety car is a very dangerous creature.

This time we are lucky that the Americans use Big Fat Trucks to tow you to safety.

But look, even the ANDRETTI’S, yes both of them, got it very wrong.

REALLY WRONG.

MASSA AND KUBICA IN A FANTASTIC LAST LAP BATTLE

NUNO CONDE had a great post with a spectacular video with MASSA and KUBICA fighting it out in the rain. Unfortunately I don’t speak any Portuguese. Sorry Nuno Conde. But it still sounds great in your language:
“Massa e o Kubica, na última volta do GP do Japão no passado mês de Setembro…Deliciem-se…Espectacular!”

ANDRETTI’S LUCKY DAY AT INDY

One of the all time greats, wanted to try his luck at INDY again, and this time it would be special, driving for his son’s team.

However, in practice things went wrong, and not just a bit. Even though he hasn’t had the best of luck at INDY, I would say he saved it all up for this day.

Without Mr Mario Andretti, the world would have been a lesser place.

Maybe, just maybe, he even manages to bring the CHAMPCAR and IRL series back together. So we get one open wheel series in the US. Just like in the good old days with all the big names giving F1 a run for its money.
