In the good old days, we would still race at Paul Ricard, the circuit were Jean Alesi made his sensational debut for Tyrrell, all those years ago. Long straight, some great corners and even some overtaking. But still, that wasn’t enough to keep the Grand Prix there.
Paul Ricard though will always stay in our minds for this mind boggling crash in one of the first F1 cars designed by the great Adrian Newey. It was a fantastic looking car, and Ivan Capelli had quite a few battles with the big boys.
On this day though, all the attention went to his team mate, Mauricio Gugelmin.
