The Sun – THIS is the mangled wreck of a sportscar after a shocking 150mph crash that left racer Andy Neate in a coma.
Yet now, 18 months later, 35-year-old Neate has completed a miraculous recovery by signing for the British Touring Car Championship’s title-winning team, West Surrey Racing.
He broke his neck and sustained other multiple injuries including two decompressed lungs.
He was in a coma for a fortnight and hospitalised for two months. After that, he was unable to walk for another nine weeks.
Neate said: “I basically suffered the same injury as the Superman actor Christopher Reeve.
“The only difference was my spinal cord didn’t break away from the vertebrae. Really, when this happens, at best you’re looking at terrible paralysis.
